Doctor, Paramedic, or Both?

Doctor and paramedic

A paramedic specializes in the initial emergency medical care of a patient, from arriving at the scene to transporting them to the hospital. In contrast, doctors generally work within the hospital and take over the care of the patient once the patient arrives at the hospital. The next question, what are the differences between doctors, paramedics and paramedics? The purpose of this article is to answer that question.

PARAMEDIC, DOCTOR, AND PARAMEDICAL DOCTOR

Paramedic translated from German can be described as "field doctor". Paramedics are specialists with basic or secondary medical education. They can simultaneously perform resuscitation functions, or, if he works alone, but often a paramedic works under the supervision of a doctor (Fire Safety Encyclopedia, n. d). This profession is considered very important and responsible, because it is its representatives who most often provide qualified first aid and save the patient's life even before admission to the department. Currently, a paramedic occupies a position between a nurse and a doctor. Thus, doctors and nurses can become paramedics, but paramedics are not necessarily doctors or nurses.

Ollie (2023) describes the differences between doctors and paramedics. Doctors generally work in hospitals, while paramedics work in ambulances that take people to the hospital. Doctors are responsible for patient care after they arrive at the hospital, whereas paramedics are responsible for patient care before the patient arrives at the hospital. Doctor specialties can vary, one of which is an emergency doctor, while a paramedic is a specialist in pre-hospital care. Doctors can prescribe drugs, while paramedics cannot prescribe drugs without additional qualifications. Paramedics perform life-saving procedures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and use epinephrine to treat patients with severe allergic reactions.

CONCLUSION

Paramedics are specialists with basic or secondary medical education. They can simultaneously perform resuscitation functions, or, if he works alone, but often a paramedic works under the supervision of a doctor. A paramedic occupies a position between a nurse and a doctor. In this case, paramedics, doctors and paramedics have different responsibilities. Simply put, paramedics focus on pre-hospital care, whereas doctors will take over when the patient arrives at the hospital. Paramedic doctors have a combination of roles of doctors and paramedics.
