The Need for Regulation to Ensure the Quality of On-Demand Services

Writer: Elizabeth SantosoElizabeth Santoso

On-demand healthcare services are increasingly popular in Indonesia, offering patients the convenience of receiving treatment without having to visit a medical facility. However, the rapid growth of these services also presents challenges, especially in terms of the quality and safety of the services provided. Without clear regulations, there is a risk of differences in service standards and the competence of medical personnel that can endanger patients.

Strict regulations are needed to ensure that healthcare workers working in the on-demand system have the appropriate certification and competence. The government must set service standards, including an accreditation system for platforms that provide these services. In addition, there needs to be a policy that regulates ethical aspects, cost transparency, and complaint mechanisms for patients.

With the right regulations, on-demand healthcare services can be a safe and quality solution, complementing the existing health system. Such regulations will also increase public trust in these services, ensuring that innovation in the health sector remains oriented towards patient safety and well-being.
