Spinal Health: Proper Posture to Prevent Back Pain

Back pain is a common problem that is often overlooked, but it can have a major impact on a person's quality of life. The main cause is often poor posture, whether when sitting, standing, or lifting. Sitting for long periods without good back support can cause muscle tension, which can eventually develop into chronic pain.


Improving posture is essential to maintaining spinal health. When sitting, make sure your back is straight, your shoulders are relaxed, and both feet are flat on the floor. If working in front of a computer, the screen should be at eye level to avoid slouching. When standing, keeping your weight evenly distributed on both feet and avoiding standing in the same position for too long can help reduce pressure on the spine.


In addition to maintaining proper posture, exercises such as yoga and pilates are highly recommended to strengthen the core muscles that support the back. Using an ergonomic chair, taking short breaks to stretch, and avoiding the habit of slouching while using a cellphone are also effective in preventing back pain. With good habits, we can maintain spinal health and avoid long-term problems that can interfere with daily activities.
